Term 3 Week 8

Monday

Thank you for the daily home reading and practising of sight words. It consolidates what we do in class and greatly aids development of those very important literacy skills.

If you have any concerns come and chat at any time.

The Spelling words given are determined by the results of a pretest given each Monday. To help your child learn these words, we suggest you use the “Look, Say, Trace, Cover, Write, Check” spelling method. This is a method the students have used previously at school during literacy lessons and is the method suggested in the student’s spelling textbook. Spelling words will be tested each Friday.

Look – Look at the word

Say – Say the word out loud

Trace – Trace the word with your finger

Cover – Cover the word so that you cannot see it
Write – Write the word trying to remember what it looked like and how it sounded

Check – Check to see if it is correct. Write the word correctly if you made any mistakes.

If you have any questions regarding spelling homework please don’t hesitate to contact me.
