Term 4 Week 9!!!!!!

Monday

Unbelievably, we have come to our last week together as 1M!!!
It will be a whirlwind week with a mixture of excitement, sadness, lots of Christmas cheer, cleaning up, tidying up and generally preparing for Christmas, holidays and the year ahead.

I would like to sincerely thank each and every parent for a wonderful year together. With your support and constant love and devotion, the children have had an awesome year of happy, exciting learning !! It always amazes me when I see how well they read and write by the end of Year 1, and how much they have matured.

I have enjoyed immensely working with the children and with you.

I will send some books home with the children each day so that they do not end up with a heavy load at the end of the week.

PE and Music - Children will need to wear sports uniforms.

Welcome back to a very busy and exciting Term  4. We have such a variety of learning experiences planned for this Term.

Daily home reading and practising of sight words will continue as it consolidates what we do in class and greatly aids development of those very important literacy skills needed for independent learning. There will be no spelling homework but we will be learning theme words related to our topics for the term. Spelling will be taught and consolidated at school.

Written homework will commence next week as this is a short week. Daily home reading and sight word practice will commence today. A letter outlining Term 4 learning and related activities will be sent home this week.

Please come and have a chat whenever you need to.

Due to Showcase Night on Wednesday this week, Homework this week will consist of Home Reading and practising Sight Words. However, Wednesday evening will be the final home reading night this term as all the books need to be returned to the Library on Thursday. Therefore, please ensure that home readers are returned to school on Thursday for safe delivery to the Library.

PE and Music - Children are to wear sports uniform.

Sacred Singing - 2.25 to 2.55pm. The children will be released from the Church.

Dr. Cameron Stelzer, author of the very popular Stroogle books is visiting for the whole day today. The whole day will be spent with him. The children will be immersed in exciting Literacy activities the whole day in Siena.
